About Me
Dr. Raghav Sharma earned his Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication from the Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana in 2010 and M. Tech in Nanoscience and Technology from Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University in 2012. Thereafter, he joined IIT Delhi as a PhD student and awarded with the Doctorate degree with a distinction in doctoral thesis in December, 2017. He has extensive experience in RF device characterization and in cleanroom environments for device fabrication and testing.
His PhD work was mainly focused on the challenges faced by magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) based spin-torque nano-oscillators (STNOs) such as high linewidth and low output power. He performed various experiments to understand the phase noise and synchronization in STNOs. Furthermore, he performed wireless communication and single side modulation using STNOs for proposing the use of spintronic oscillators in commercial wireless communication systems in collaboration with University of Gothenburg , Sweden. Also, he worked as the main operator of e-beam lithography at the NRF, IIT Delhi.
He joined the National University of Singapore in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2018 as a postdoc fellow. He worked on fabricating and characterizing various spintronic and other electronics devices for future electronic applications such as energy harvesting using spintronic and topological materials, sub-THz signal generation and detection and spin-orbit torque based efficient and fast switching for MRAM devices. He has taken the training to independently operate fabrication tools and supporting instruments such as e-beam lithography, optical lithography, ion beam etching, sputtering, wire bonder and optical microscope. Furthermore, he has learned to operate XRD and Raman for the basic material characterization and developed RF based setups to test the high-frequency application of various electronic devices.
Recently, he has been awarded with the INSPIRE Faculty award by the Department of Science and Technology, India. In Jan 2023, he has joined Electrical Department of IIT Ropar. His current research focusses on nonlinear quantum materials and circuits, spintronics for energy, high-frequency (MHz to THz) and neuromorphic applications, noble semiconductor materials and devices, and the use of artificial intelligence for material identification and fabrication.
